Have you ever had those people that come into your life and even though you have never met, they seem like you have known them Forever?? Well, Lauren was that bride. She’s from around here, in fact she’s a Cheatham county girl and her groom went to Martin and was on the Rodeo team… Jay ( Mister Mrs. J) went to Martin and was on the rodeo team. Yes, that is how our meeting started. They came to me for catering since they were getting married next door, really, across the Street at Front Porch Farms.
I didn’t get to meet Zach at first. Lauren and her mom came for our meetings, she was super busy finishing Pharmacy school and we were glad just to get together and talk wedding stuff. Female stuff, like what do they want to eat? What were the colors she had picked out? What is your dress like? you know… the FUN stuff! We finally nailed it down. The Menu. Simple stuff. The perfect summer meal for 235 of your favorite people in the world. They started off with appetizer buffet of seasonal summer fruits like cold watermelon, ripe strawberries, luscious grapes in several colors arranged on galvanized tiered trays because that is the kind of girl that Lauren is. Laid back, God and Family first, make everybody welcome, happy and comfortable kind of starters. Then we added Cheddars, Swiss, Colby and Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack for a little kick and several kinds of crackers.
Their reception was a beautiful blend of Family, old friends, new friends, a beautiful remembrance of a friend gone too soon and smidge of a reference to Duck Hunting. The menu was a Traditional tossed salad with Ranch and Thousand Island, cherry tomatoes, cheese and croutons, moist marinated and grilled boneless, skinless chicken breasts, Roasted potatoes , a Vegetable medley with lemon butter sauce, Macaroni and cheese and Yeast rolls with butter. This was all served with Sweet tea- Sweet enough to make your teeth ache because Lauren and her family like it that way! They also had fresh Lemonade and water because it IS summer in Tennessee.
Lauren had some of the cutest decorations throughout the reception. She decorated the tables with pictures of her and Zach and throws, pillows and keepsakes that they could use in their home for years to come. Everything was beautiful, unique to them and anyone looking could just see their LOVE everywhere!
I was thrilled to get to be a part of Lauren and Zach’s wedding reception. Like so many of the beautiful days that I have the honor of participating in– I hate it is over, I sure hope they come visit sometime! Congratulations and the very best wishes, lots of Love and Happiness, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson!
