I just finished feeding our horses and looking around our family farm, I realized- some of the very best days are ON THE FARM. Granted, we don’t cater here but I do meet my couples and clients “to be” here at my commercial kitchen. We were thrilled last Spring when Cheyenne, of Shots by Cheyenne, photographer extraordinaire, stopped by and asked could she shoot here? Looks like our cows were pretty tickled about it too!
This past summer, I got an email from Michaela Reed of A&M Events. Would I be interested in catering a black tie wedding at The Cordelle for Becca and Mike? They want good Southern food in a super upscale wedding. ABSOLUTELY!! We met here and I let them sample BBQ with Peach Tequila sauce, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, Macaroni and Cheese and Banana Pudding. I learned more about the couple and that both Becca and Mike had attended Vanderbilt and wanted to have their wedding in Nashville even though they are both now working in DC. Mike mentioned early on that he had worked at a horse rescue organization and thought he heard horses when he drove up. I explained they were in their stalls with the fans going since the day was so hot. As we we wrapped up our conversation, Mike said, I have one more question, ” Can we please go see your horses?” My kind of people… I am still smiling and cannot wait to cater their wedding reception this coming June. Max and Stuey are always happy to meet people AND get treats!
One of the best things that happened this year was not on our farm but at our friends Val and Emily’s farm down the road. One of our dearest friends Tandy, that means everything to us, married her best friend, Elmo on one of the very best but hottest days of the year. It was a beautiful family and friends kind of day with a ceremony beside the river. Her nephew Mason, announced her arrival from his tractor ….
Then while Family and Friends watched, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony officiated by her uncle. Yep, I cried. Congratulations Mr and Mrs. Leslie! Their wedding was definitely the best day On the Farm I have had in a while. That smile says it all!!
