Katie & Adam September 8, 2012

Well, it is not often that I get to work with folks that are 1200 miles away but that was the case with this wedding.  Katie’s sweet mom, Connie lives in New Mexico and it was always such a Joy talking with her on the phone.  The couple’s wedding and reception was held on a gorgeous fall evening at Front Porch Farms.  They decorated in shades of cream accented with burlap and birdhouses and beautiful table runners that Connie had made for each of the tables.

The guests enjoyed cocktails by the pool with appetizer display of Veggies and assorted dips,  A seasonal Fruit and assorted Cheese display, Sandwich Squares of  Creamy Pear and Almond on wheat and Olive Tapenade w/ Crostini.   Then after a prayer, enjoyed a buffet of  Marinated grilled Chicken Breasts, Pork BBQ with  Sauces, a tossed salad with Champagne Vinaigrette, Roasted Rosemary Garlic Potatoes, Southern style green beans and Yeast rolls and butter.

The Bride and Groom cut a small Lemon Poppyseed cake with Buttercream icing and then joined their guests to enjoy Strawberry Cupcakes and warm Peach Cobber.  One of the guests even told me -  Wow, that Peach Cobbler is ILLEGAL!  I am still enjoying that comment.

Bonnie & James July 21, 2012

It was such a pleasure getting to do the reception for wonderful couple!  I really connected with them when we first met and I was so pleased to get to work with the wonderful folks at  Owen Farm, where the wedding was held.   I had gotten to see the venue when I had taken my children there for their annual Fall Festival but didnt realize what a beautiful rustic outdoor  backdrop they have for a wedding ceremony.

Friends and family gathered for  a meal of Pulled Pork served with Sweet Peach, Southern Twang and Little Zip sauces.   Marinated Grilled Chicken Breasts, Twice Baked Potato casserole, Grape Salad and Cornbread Salad, Yeast rolls, Sandwich buns, zesty bread and butter pickles and Coleslaw.

Jennifer & Jim June 23, 2012

It was a beautiful June morning at Holy Trinity Greek Orthox church when Jennifer and Jim said their vows to each other.  In the midst of family and friends, in a stunning gorgeous sanctuary and IN LOVE, I could not be happier for them!  After their intimate, meaningful ceremony the wedding party gathered for a brunch to congratulate the newlyweds.

The buffet was done in a blue to completment the sash on the bride’s gown.  The meal consisted of Steeplechase casserole,Cheese Grits  with Scallions and Sundried tomatoes, Spring green salad w/ Champagne Vinaigrette, Mixed fruit salad, Blueberry coffee cake, Lemon Poppy seed bread ,  Banana bread and Chicken salad wraps.

Jennifer and Jim’s new  happy family!

Thoughts from a Southern Belle

I have had the nickname Belle since my uncle bestowed it on me at the age of 3.  I really never thought about being a Southern Belle but I am lucky that in my line of work, I get to interact with people from all over the country and sometimes it gives me the perspective that I have forgotten along the way.   Sometimes they say crazy things like” Wow, I didn’t know you Southerners could cook”…. I  guess I never realized just how lucky I am to be born with Southern values to a family  that loves God and Country,  family,  community  and  knows the value of simple  good food and I am blessed  that they  have passed all  of  that a  along to me.   I know that a small  gesture like a good meal can make one  feel a sense of belonging and care that goes all the way down deep to your soul.  Comforting folks with food is the first thing I think to do when I hear of a joy or loss or  when a problem is so big  I just don’t know what else to do.     I recently took a Sunday afternoon to say some ” Thank you’s”   for being my friends and some ” I am so very sorry’s”   to some dear folks in the best way I know how– I cooked  for them.

Theresa & Blake June 10, 2012

We were thrilled that Charlotte TN was the ” meet in the middle” spot  for these two familes that came from across the country to celebrate the marriage of Theresa and Blake. I learned very quickly that Theresa was very easy going but had  very definite ideas about what she wanted to eat- my kind of girl!

Kendyl & Marshall May 27, 2012

From the moment of our first meeting I felt like I had known this couple for years.  Their wedding was such a joy and like so many of the weddings this year, I felt a pang of sadness when it was over only because I enjoyed the two of them so much!  Their family and friends came from across the country and the Nashville area to celebrate their wedding and I was thrilled to be able to be a part of it.

The  appetizers were Pepper jack pick me ups along with a  fruit display with crackers.  The guests then enjoyed a buffet of:  Pork Tenderloin with Peaches, Vidalia onions and garlic, Spring salad w/ strawberries, pecans, goat cheese & poppy seed dressing, Sweet potato casserole with praline pecan topping, Corn pudding and   Marinated Cucumbers, onions and tomatoes.
