The Camerons May 13, 2012

This was one beautiful Mother’s Day wedding despite the rain!   Cameron and Cameron are an amazing couple and such a joy to get to know.  There were 225 of their friends and family that came from around town and out of state to celebrate their love.  The wedding was held at Front Porch Farms and the ceremony and the reception were held inside the pavilion.

The menu consisted of appetizers of: Seasonal Fruit and Assorted  Cheeses, Vegetables and Crostini with Hummus and Spinach Artichoke Puff Pastry Spirals.  The Buffet was Poppy seed Chicken, Pulled Pork BBQ, Sliced Beef Brisket with Sweet Peach, Southern Twang and Little Zip Sauces, Spring Salad with feta, Strawberries and Poppy seed dressing, Southern Green Beans, Twice Baked Potato Casserole  and Yeast rolls with butter.

It was a very good year….

Wow!  We have really been blessed in 2011.  It has been a priviledge to be able to be  a  small part of so many special moments, events and  occasions. The wedding season began in March and  lasted through the year …

One of my very Favorite Pictures of the year was this one of Kendal at Cheekwood…

Wedding at Cheekwood

Mrs. J’s Baking and Catering got to contribute to Birthday’s,  Corporate functions and even  a 50th Anniversary party that months later allowed me to be a part of a joyous homecoming celebration for this sweet couples son who just recently came home from Iraq.  Welcome Home Wade!

We   finished the last event of the year on New Year’s Eve at one of our favorite places– the Cheatham County Senior Center Dinner and Dance!  Wow, those folks have LOTS more energy than I do !!  They love to eat but they are ALL  about the Dancing…. I never though I would look at 80 year olds and wish for their energy.   They are a joy every year!   And finally, after many years of renting, worrying and  even a tornado before it could come to pass…   Our days of renting a kitchen ended and we moved into our brand new 800 square foot commercial kitchen and then the “icing on the cake”  were  thrilled to get a 98 on our health score!

If you can’t tell already, it has been a very happy and  BUSY  year!   I am truly  blessed to have a hard -working, supportive husband and family, good health, wonderful friends that I get to enjoy every minute of  time spent working with them,  a short walk to work, fantastic customers that have become friends and are such a joy that I miss them when their  special event is over, repeat business  and best of all–  the  sheer happiness of doing something that I LOVE  that brings JOY to myself and  others.  I am  very excited   looking forward to 2o12 and  the new opportunities it will bring.    Here’s wishing us all a  very Happy New Year and that God continues to Bless us!!

Family style service at a Southern chic wedding

The focus was on family at this beautiful Wedding at Front Porch Farms last night.   I had the pleasure of meeting Heather, Arnold and Heather’s mom Janet months ago and I immediately loved their ideas for the reception.  Their vision was a wedding reception that felt like a family reunion, complete with family style service and southern comfort food.

They chose a menu of sweet potato biscuits stuffed with ham, Bourbon pecan brie with fruit and Spinach Artichoke puffs for appetizers.  The menu was Chicken Lester and Pork Tenderloin with Apples and Bourbon, Macaroni and cheese, Haricot verts with lemon and butter, sweet potato casserole with bourbon pecan praline crust and cheesey hashbrown casserole and baskets of warm yeast rolls and mexican cornbread muffins.

Fabulous, Fun, Fall Wedding

Cheese display in antique box

Wow!!  October 15th was a picture perfect day.  Friends and family came from  all over   be a part of this beautiful wedding.  I met Kelley Drennan last Spring when she was planning her big day at Front Porch Farms.  She chose a vibrant color scheme of red, red apples and  aqua accents.  I love everything that is aqua or turquoise and I couldn’t wait to see the result.  Kelley chose a menu of  seasonal fruit and cheese display with a heart  cheese ball with pepper jelly and Thick cut Apple jack Ham on buttermilk biscuits served with blackberry mustard  as appetizers.  The guests had time to mingle around the pool and listen to the band play jazz and standards before dinner.  The buffet was   a choice of  Hickory smoked BBQ with mild, sweet peach and little zip sauces and/ or Marinated grilled chicken breasts.   Guests also had the option of making a BBQ sandwich with  Southern cole slaw on buns or choosing a meat and three.  For sides choices were  Macaroni and cheese, Sweet Potato casserole with Pecan Praline topping, and  an Autumn salad with roasted pears and apples, Parmesano Reggiano and  champagne dressing.  It made a beautiful display with the lovely flowers from a sweet family friend that had promised to do Kelley’s flowers after doing both of her sisters weddings, she came from West Virginia to do the beautiful arrangements that were through out the pavilion.   I am still smiling a day later about one of the compliments I got.. a guest said while getting seconds,  ” Wow, I didnt know you Southerners could cook but this is REALLY GOOD!!

Nothing beats FALL weddings

It was a beautiful day at Front Porch Farms  on Sunday October 2nd.  I had the pleasure of working at Emily and Jordan’s wedding.  They are a beautiful couple that I met last Spring on one of the coldest  days of the year.  They were so excited to be leaving soon to do  missionary work but had a clear vision of what they wanted for their food.  Italian inspired, simple and a fun reception.  They decided on  appetizers of Spinach Artichoke puffs, Pesto cheese torta with Crostini and a Fall Fruit display.  For the meal, Cheese Tortellini with Alfredo sauce, Ceasar salad, Chicken breasts with a choice of Marinara or Marsala sauces, Green beans with bacon and yeast rolls with butter.   They chose a gorgeous purple as their color scheme and had Bible verses scattered around the tables.   When the wedding day came,  I  was thrilled to meet the mother of the bride, we had such good long distance  talks over the months and I couldn’t wait to get to see her.  The day was almost as lovely as this family!!
